Stamba is, hands down, the best hotel in Georgia. It’s an architecture and design lover’s dream, set inside a former 1930s Soviet publishing house in Vera, a great neighborhood to be based in and explore. The luxury hotel has an edgy, post-industrial vibe with high ceilings, exposed brick, dim lighting, and retro colors. But Stamba is so much more than a hotel. It’s a cultural landmark in Tbilisi filled with more locals than hotel guests. Tbilisi residents come for the trendy restaurants and bars, to hang out in the garden and amphitheater, and work from D Block Workspace. Even if you aren’t staying at Stamba Hotel in Tbilisi, definitely check it out.

Rooms
Stamba has five types of rooms: the Aviator, Aviator Signature, Aviator Suite, Terrace, and Signature Terrace. Rooms have a fun, retro style, with amenities like espresso machines, stereo systems, and a diverse collection of books. The signature rooms and suite have a gorgeous freestanding brass tub.
My experience: The rooms are stunning but can be more stylish than practical. I’ve stayed in the Aviator Signature and Terrace rooms. The Aviator Signature has dim lighting in the bathroom and closet, and the terrace room doesn’t have a full-length mirror. That made getting dressed difficult. Both rooms have an open shower, so it’s hard to keep water from getting all over the floor. These things might not be a big deal for a short visit, but they weren’t ideal for my one-month stay.
Dining
Cafe Stamba, Pink Bar, & the Chocolaterie & Roastery
Stamba is one of the most popular places to eat and drink in Tbilisi. It has a restaurant, Cafe Stamba, serving Georgian classics and international dishes. Herbs and greens are grown onsite (in a pink fluorescent room!) at SpaceFarms, Georgia’s first eco-friendly, urban vertical farming project. For guests, Cafe Stamba has made-to-order breakfast (hooray!), not a buffet like Tbilisi’s other high-end hotels. If breakfast is included in your rate, you can order everything on the menu! It’s all included. But breakfast isn’t available until 8:30 AM, much later than other hotels. Next to the cafe is Pink Bar. It has the same menu but is more for drinks. To the back of the cafe is the Chocolaterie & Roastery with quality coffee, handmade artisan chocolate, and great desserts.
Shio Ramen & Warehouse Wine Bar
Stamba also has an Asian restaurant, Shio Ramen, that makes its own noodles. Its newest venture in 2024 is Warehouse Wine Bar with over 400 selections of natural wine. The staff at the wine bar are very knowledgable, and you can enjoy a glass out in Stamba’s garden and amphitheater.
My experience: Overall, the food and drinks at Stamba are really good, prices are high, and the service is average, like at most places in Georgia. The restaurants and bars are the reason I go back to Stamba. I love that when I’m tired after work, I can go downstairs for dinner or a drink and still feel like I’ve gone out and experienced Georgia because it’s such a trendy place packed with locals. It’s also such a treat to get great food delivered through room service from Cafe Stamba.
Spaces
Garden, Amphitheater, & Rooftop
Stamba has beautiful recreational and event spaces with the same post-industrial vibe. Its outdoor garden and amphitheater, with a 1970s voltage tower in the center, is a popular spot for locals to hang out, especially in good weather. The hotel also has a rooftop but it was closed in 2024.
D Block Workspace, Tbilisi Photo and Multimedia Museum, & Shops
Stamba’s D Block Workspace is open to guests and members. It’s a popular place to work for remote workers or organizations with limited office space. Stamba recently opened the Tbilisi Photo and Multimedia Museum. It’s led by women and highlights female photographers of the South Caucasus and Georgian cultural heritage. Sadly, it was closed in 2024. Yet another reason to visit Stamba is the design-forward shops selling clothes, jewelry, books, posters, and great souvenirs!
