Hi! I’m Kris. I work in international affairs and development and absolutely love to travel, both for work and for fun! So far, I’ve lived in Turkey, Colombia, Argentina, France, and Spain and traveled to 45+ countries on 5 continents. 🙂

My work influences how I travel, with a focus on cultural immersion (through people, food, history, dance, you name it!) and community empowerment. It’s important to me to put my money towards businesses and practices that, at a minimum, do no harm, but ideally, also help to preserve local customs and traditions, protect and uplift vulnerable communities, and respect animals and the environment.

When I started traveling alone, it was like the entire world opened up to me. I could go anywhere, anytime, and do anything. I wasn’t limited anymore by where others wanted to go or when they were free. It gave me the greatest sense of freedom, independence, and empowerment I have ever known.

I also found I had a totally different experience when I traveled by myself. I met so many more people I connected more deeply with because I was alone, exposed, and vulnerable. I felt challenged every day in a way that only solo travel can do to you, and it’s made me a stronger, braver, more confident, and resourceful woman. I hope this blog helps others on their journey to travel farther and deeper. Cheers!
