One of the most popular weekend getaways in Georgia for the well-heeled is a trip to Kazbegi and a stay at Rooms Hotel. Rooms is a luxurious mountain lodge set against Mount Kazbegi, one of Georgia’s most incredible destinations and the natural border between Georgia and Russia. The hotel is surrounded by mountains, with epic views through floor-to-ceiling windows at every turn. After the views, Rooms Kazbegi is all about interior design, like its sister properties, including Georgia’s best hotel, Stamba. Rooms features natural materials and warm tones that are in harmony with nature. Cozy leather couches, repurposed wooden tables, and antler chandeliers are complemented by pops of color from the Georgian rugs, vintage Soviet movie posters, and books. Complete with a spa, entertainment, and great food and drinks, Rooms is a lovely mountain retreat.

Rooms
All rooms have a terrace or balcony to sit outside and enjoy the view. Rooms have either a forest or mountain view. While the mountain view is the most popular, the forest view is also beautiful (photo below). The rooms are understated and have limited amenities (the opposite of Stamba!). They’re not particularly cozy, so if you’re planning to spend time relaxing in your room, I would upgrade to one of the more spacious rooms, perhaps with a bathtub, that makes for a better place to linger.

Lounge Areas
Rooms Hotel’s lounge areas are its second best feature, after the stunning views of the Caucasus mountains. The interior is a warm, inviting space to pass hours on end. There are comfy leather sofas to relax in, a fire going by the bar, candles flickering in the background, and books, board games, and billiards for entertainment. The outside terrace is a refreshing place to take in Mount Kazbegi and the clean mountain air, with blankets to keep you warm and cozy in the cooler climate.

Restaurant & Bar
Rooms Hotel has great food and a full bar. People who aren’t staying at the hotel come to dine and drink there and admire the mountains in the backdrop. There aren’t many other options in the area. The restaurant serves Georgian classics and international dishes. A highlight is the breakfast buffet with a made-to-order egg station and all the savory and sweet treats your heart could desire.
Pool, Spa, & Gym
Rooms Hotel has a dimly lit, heated indoor pool with the same jaw-dropping view of the mountains. Definitely check it out even if you don’t go for a swim. Next to the pool are the (unisex) sauna, massage rooms, and a decently equipped gym. If you want to get a massage, arrange it in advance. There was only one massage therapist when I visited, who was fully booked for the weekend.
