Terrible French Pastry School

Best for short-term visitors to Copenhagen since there are classes multiple times a week

The Terrible French Pastry School offers one of the most popular and well-run baking classes in Copenhagen. You learn to make several types of Danish pastry, cinnamon rolls, and poppy and sesame seed twists. The 3.5-hour class has a maximum of 12 students and is taught in English by a professional pastry chef in Frederiksberg. At the end, you get to take the freshly baked pastries home. Book far in advance during the spring or summer, as this class sells out months in advance during peak season!

Best for locals as there are only a few pastry classes each quarter

Flere Fugle is a great bakery and cafe in Nordvest. They offer one or two baking classes a week taught by their in-house bakers. You can learn to make croissants, cinnamon and cardamom buns, sourdough and rye bread, and sourdough pizza. The 4-hour classes are in Danish and English. Included in most are a light vegetarian meal and extra dough to take home. I really enjoyed the cinnamon and cardamom bun class. They cap the class at 6 people, so there’s plenty of time to engage with the instructor, ask questions, and practice shaping the dough. Class participants will typically be locals since you probably won’t come across the classes online by searching for baking courses in English. Classes cost ~$152.
