Here’s how to get from Palermo airport or city center to Trapani in Sicily (and vice versa).
For hotels in Trapani, I recommend Secret B&B, Residence La Gancia, Hotel San Michele, and Room of Andrea Hotel. More on these hotels and the city in this guide to Trapani. Also check out how long to spend in Trapani and how to get to Erice or the Aegadian (Egadi) Islands from Trapani.
How to Get to Trapani from Palermo Airport (& Vice Versa)
Public Transport
From Palermo Airport, you take the Segesta bus right outside of the airport to go directly to Trapani. The most convenient drop-off point in Trapani for most people will be Trapani port (here on Google Maps), next to the hydrofoil ferry terminal where Liberty Lines ferries depart for the Egadi Islands. The bus costs about €10 and takes 70 minutes depending on traffic. If you’re going from Trapani to Palermo Airport for a flight, give yourself wiggle room in case the bus is 30 minutes late like it was for me (stressful!).
Private Transport
If timing is an issue, you have a lot of luggage, are traveling in a group, or just want everything taken care of for you from the airport to/from your hotel in Trapani, a private shuttle is definitely the way to go.
How to Get to Trapani from Palermo City (& Vice Versa)
Public Transport
From Palermo city, you also take the Segesta bus to get to Trapani. If you’re staying in the historic center near Quattro Canti, choose the departure point “Rome/Malta (Via Roma, 171 corner of Via Malta)” (here on Google Maps). You can also take the bus from the Palermo train station or other locations. For the destination in Trapani, “TRAPANI – Via Amm. Staiti, 13 – PORT” (the port bus stop) will be the most convenient drop-off point for most people, but choose the location based on where you’re staying. The bus costs around €10 and takes up to 2 hours, depending on traffic. My bus took 90 minutes.
Day Trips Through an Organized Tour
Many people stay in Trapani as a base to visit nearby places like Erice and Marsala. If that’s your plan, you can also take these day trips from Palermo to many of the best places in the Trapani area.
